Passion is a maddening creed

It burns like fire

And sews the seed

Like water gives life

And erodes you away

Passion is a grave

Where, in death, means naught

Like a cat’s clever gaze

Mirrors its twisted plot

Passion buried in its eyes

Passion is like hatred

If hatred could be love

When for love’s sake we dread

The soft coo of a dove

Passion for passion’s sake be damned

Passion is the life of the earth

In bitter malice, kindness and trust

A blank canvass

That takes everything of me

And paints it away for all to see

But for me this painting will never be

Author's Note

This is one of an additional 3 poems from my book that I'm releasing exclusively to the writerscafe community. Thank you guys so much for all your support and enjoy these three poems! This one is one of my first poems actually. It dates back to the same era of Moonlight Dance where I was still really learning where my motivation was. I hope you enjoy it! Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

~ i find those lines are the heart of the poem. Passion can be taken in a good way or in a bad way... either way you must find your balance. Like i said before there is a find lining between everything.. the key ingredient to equilibrium.
a bit Dark in a well expressed imagery, Excellent as always...
Passion for passion’s sake be damned ~ so amazingly expressed :D

Well, not anymore :) I just got around to answering the comments on some of my older works. Two years go by so fast I should really update my picture soon. Glad you liked it as always Valentine, It's always great to hear your opinion on my work!

After reading this, Passion has a new definition. It almost sounds evil

but then again...Passion is a pretty powerful emotion. It drives us bat crazy in love...or it can drive us insane. Beautiful analogies...I really enjoyed this poem.

"Passion is a maddening creed" pulls you right in...Passion is all consuming if your not careful it threatens to burn you from the inside out, it can make you lose your mind, possibly even your soul...One of my favorite subjects.Great illustration on the subject!
