Passion is a maddening creed

It burns like fire

And sews the seed

Like water gives life

And erodes you away

Passion is a grave

Where, in death, means naught

Like a cat’s clever gaze

Mirrors its twisted plot

Passion buried in its eyes

Passion is like hatred

If hatred could be love

When for love’s sake we dread

The soft coo of a dove

Passion for passion’s sake be damned

Passion is the life of the earth

In bitter malice, kindness and trust

A blank canvass

That takes everything of me

And paints it away for all to see

But for me this painting will never be

Author's Note

This is one of an additional 3 poems from my book that I'm releasing exclusively to the writerscafe community. Thank you guys so much for all your support and enjoy these three poems! This one is one of my first poems actually. It dates back to the same era of Moonlight Dance where I was still really learning where my motivation was. I hope you enjoy it! Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

~ i find those lines are the heart of the poem. Passion can be taken in a good way or in a bad way... either way you must find your balance. Like i said before there is a find lining between everything.. the key ingredient to equilibrium.
a bit Dark in a well expressed imagery, Excellent as always...
Passion for passion’s sake be damned ~ so amazingly expressed :D

I like the similes used on here. Especially the one on these lines:

Like water gives life
And erodes you away

The poem is actually like a collection of philosophies centered on one subject: Passion. Very intellectual poem and very well penned.

Excellent as usual and I enjoyed reading. It reminds me of the viewpoint I wrote in 'A Prophecy to the Coming' About love and hate being the same thing just incoherent sides. This is a nice poem Thankyou for writing! ^^

I like the way you describe all the dimensions that sit very well when describing feelings and emotion of this powerful force as your words intensifies throughout each stanza. Your interpretation makes you feel like you’re being intoxicated and overcome by such desires unable to control those dark thoughts and the actions that follow haveing profound consequences. The Passion that you write about so vividly with great diction and imagary could be seen as someone battling with their unconscious mind trying to rid themselves of painful impulses eating away at them.
