Midnight Sunshine

Midnight Sunshine

A Poem by Jessica

For her, it was only he

Who could turn time on its toes

Only he who could erase brutal rain,

Slicing droplets that freed the blood

He scorched the storm into dawn

And froze the clock into eternity

For her, it was only he

Who could silence the seas

Only he who could numb her to moon beams

Detached radiance from a distance

He made her devour terror

The tides tranquil in reverse eclipse

For her, it was only he

Who could spin the sun in his soul

When she journeyed to his windowpane

She exhaled glistening confessions

The 1 AM drizzle teased with jabs

His sweet dismissal splintered glass

Day or night, it was only he

Who could shine yet scar

Rays of light his only weapon

Because, for her, it was only him
