Spirit is Strong

Spirit is Strong

A Poem by Barbara Walker
"

A poem to my twin sister who passed away December 27, 2013

"
The other day I stopped by your house and Jack wasn't there.
I knew if I went in the backyard, Jack wouldn't mind.
I needed to be where your spirit is strong,
I needed and wanted you close to me.
You can't imagine how my heart aches,
how you being gone, makes my heart break.
You being gone is so hard to bear,
I miss you so much, it hurts my heart and soul,
now, that you're gone, I'll never feel whole.

I am so sorry about your sister, losing a sibling would be an awful thing, and I can't even imagine what it would be like if they were your twin. As you said, it would be as though you weren't whole anymore. Beautiful tribute to someone very special, and I am sure she is smiling down on you.

Thank you for your understanding and for reading this. I miss her so much...
Reading this gives me a melancholy feeling that intensifies with each successive line. You've kept the language very simple making it resonate even more. I completely agree with the last line; once you lose somebody so close to you, you really can never feel whole.

Thank you, Craig!
Very searing poem. I can feel the angst of the narrator in those last five terrible, beautiful lines. I know this feeling from when my Dad's days ran out.

I understand the poem. We need the old places to remember the people missed. I felt the desire to hear a missed voice. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and thoughts.
