Craigslist Ad

A Poem by Barbara Walker
"

The impression a craigslist ad made on me

"
On Craigslist, people post many ads for rentals, autos and items for free.
One day, I read an ad that made me feel so very sad.

A woman was having a surgery and needed someone to act like they were giving the woman a ride home, when in reality once they were out the door, the patient would take a bus and go home, alone.

Ads for rentals, jobs, autos and items for free, but, one day I read an ad, that made me feel so very sad.

Barbara this is the modern world we live in. Humanity is dying. And you are like me. This really gets to you. That someone is so alone and has no one to turn to for company for friendship, they had to advertise on Craigslist for a ride and that was for company and also going to the hospital alone is not fun for anyone. That is truly awful.

That is sad, indeed. Also, anyone who took that poor lady up on her offer and then did not give her a ride home for real, and for free, would be nothing less than opportunistic bounder!

The new world. People are forgotten. It is sad when people have no-one to assist. Thank you dear Barbara for sharing your amazing words and thoughts.

XOXOXOXOXOXOXOX
I was in a similar situation 6 years ago after major neck surgery & being in the hospital for 2 weeks. They wouldn't let me go home unless I could prove that I had someone at home to take care of me (I didn't). I went home alone in the boondocks & learned to walk again over 2 years without help & without the physical therapy they were going to force upon me, if I didn't prove I had other plans for my convalescence. It wasn't allowed to do things the old-fashioned way *smile* I love your share & your caring attitude (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

WOW! I'm proud of you for getting thru it!
Loneliness is becoming an epidemic. While we may be in "contact" with more people than ever via modern technology we are less in "touch" with others than ever before I think.

It makes even me feel incredibly sad for those of us who go through life in relative isolation, not by choice... but by insecurity or illness or other unpleasant situation's/circumstances. En masse I believe that mental health is on the decline and neuroticism and insecurity is on incline. At least, this is what I see in my little corner of America these days, I can't speak for the rest of the world.... but I would be quite happy for us to be wrong on this. (I don't think we are). I'm glad you shared this story, not enough people talk about things like this and the only way to effectively reverse this trend is to do exactly that.

Hope you've been well Barbara, I've missed you around this place recently.
