Getting Ready For the Game.

Getting Ready For the Game.

A Poem by Fear Corrupts!

  Getting Ready for The Game

Ice cold air.

Wind that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

Sitting on the bench,

Admiring that silver pond of ice and frost.

Getting ready for the game.

Dressing quickly in this Canadian arctic weather.

Thick wool socks.

& Over my jersey, a fine warm coat of real cow hyde leather.

Slip on my skates.

Each knot tied ever so carefully.

That tight knot feeling is so pleasureable.

Releases my adrenilin.

Makes me crazy.

Sometimes the best part of a hockey game,

Is sitting on the bench getting ready.

The bitter wind licking my bare toes..

Heart pumping quick, no longer steady.

Because I know,

That the freedom is about to come.

Soon I will be racing on that slick ice.

Soon I'll be having so much fun.
