We Saw Africa

We Saw Africa

A Poem by ABetterPlace

sun baked pine buzzing its resinous heat

that day in Spain

lost in the piñon grove

needles sticking to my bare feet

and sand

and dunes touching the dry blue sky

a freshening breeze

off the Mediterranean

off the Atlantic

where we saw Africa.
