Why does one love this winter?

Why does one love this winter?

A Poem by Jason

Frigid feelings

Ossify then crumble

In a snowfall

Putrid before the bloom

The spring trees swing bare

And stripped branches stare

Follow with hollow sounds of dry love

Why…

does one love this winter?

Dreams wait to thaw

Like those that nightmares awaken

As one huddles, covered by woven warmth

And not that of another’s heart

It is the lonely winter that love settles

Only the coldest souls beyond one’s druthers

And the wit of warmth and the breeze from the bay

Fall short the life of a lover from the teeth of its prey

The brittle pain of frost

And the gnaw of the North

This season never dies

But always longs to be lost

Why does one love this winter?

Oh I like this one a lot...you wrapped your pen around the season and relationships icy hot intentions all in one fell swoop.

It is the lonely winter that love settles
Only the coldest souls beyond one’s druthers
And the wit of warmth and the breeze from the bay
Fall short the life of a lover from the teeth of its prey

Outstanding stanza....& don't look at me, sick of winter in more ways than one.

This was beautiful. I personally can not stand winter. I hate cold and the snow. But I find myself writing about it and reading about it. Go figure! Lol Anyways, this was a beautifully written piece.
Great piece. Thank you for sharing! Keep up the fantastical work!

Very well written. I find my self always going back to rhyming poetry but this is AMAZING! I think it could be interpreted many different ways and that makes it very deep indeed.

Winter can be so stark and barren, I'm a summer person myself. A lovely write.

That's a good question. If I could live in constant winter year-round, I would. That's one of the reasons I want to move to Alaska. I don't know what it is about Winter's crystalline purity that makes it so dang enchanting

Your talent in poetry has grown since my hiatus from this site. I love the closure with the question you post. I simply love the flow and raw honesty of how hard winter is and still, again, the question you end with. Nice write. Good to see you again on here.

Its and elegant piece of work, a sound picture with an angst and touch of serenity all of it's own. Really enjoyed this work, so much depth and flow. Wonderous ink!
