The Weight of Shadows Cast

Feelings restrained keep a love unstained.

Beneath a delicate facade,
pink petals weather storms.
Then beads of dew shiver
and slip away from rising sun.

 

A crowd basks in her beauty,
but I admire from afar -
knowing her bloom would wither
under my cold, heavy gloom.

 

Leaching bright colors
into my shades of grey,
the best way to adore her
is for me to stay away.

It has a brilliant flow to it and it seems so alive with the construction of words you put into it. I'm impressed. I will be honest, I don't quite think the title is appropriate. Your phrasing is perfect. I can feel the frustration of the speaker as well as the resignation. the third stanza is my favorite, it really says it all.

I like the "distance" and serenity, as Yinseriv saiys, it allows the reader to imbue the words with their own emotional meaning. Beautiful to read too, with a calm easy rhythm.

I could identify with this poem, but never have been able to write the scene so well. I like the way you just put out what was there and left for the reader to bring their own emotion to the tableau.
