Fist Heart

Fist Heart

A Poem by Cardinal Robin

Fist Heart

the shape of the heart

is not at all like in Art

it has no point,

no orderly dual curves,

no mirror image symmetry

it’s not a flipping Wham-o Frisbee

it isn’t a man-made contraption

the shape of the heart

is more like a fist, your fist

is the proportional approximation

of your heart’s actual size

not huge, like cartoon eyes

if you are Itchy then Scratchy way

but the heart is not Easy Peasy

the shape of the heart

is a physicalized organic fractal

fundamental, elemental, morphological

unit of the Divine Corpus Christi

it is Babbitt’s Atom and Schrodinger’s Cat

in three seconds flat

lub dub and the emptiness between is us,

The Ghost In The Machine

the shape of the heart is not a fist

the heart wraps itself

in a two chamber embrace

pacemaker sentinels

and barrels chambered

serving 24/7 our vessel’s process

unlike the brain, the heart bears no duplicity

it is not codependent,

it cannot lie or manipulate, or deny

it is LOVE emanating

in cycles of synchronicity

with the one and only first breath

we share with Divinity

I must admit, I am a romantic at heart (hopeless, indeed..).. I've always said it is my bleeding heart that gets me into so much trouble. However, this piece... It brings about a different view that I had not considered before. In some ways I see this as a purely scientific picture of what the heart truly is, and in others I see it as a way of describing what we try so hard to tear apart.

I find it quite intriguing that you used a picture of the "Sacred Heart" for this..

There was a brilliant sense of imagery here. I greatly enjoyed this piece!

Wonderful write! Thank you for sharing..

Lovely, tender write Robin. Filled with much truth it is. And unfortunately, because it is NOT like the brain, it is open to deception, hurt and a myriad of other negative things. But, I believe in the end, the heart prevails over the mind. It's just a matter of acceptance. Nicely written.

Though the shape of my heart
May seem a bit small
It can light up a world
Or cause it to fall..

It holds a universe
In the palm of its hand
Balled up like a fist
Though as gentle as a lamb

......

"it is LOVE emanating
in cycles of synchronicity
with the one and only first breath
we share with Divinity"

Robin,
You are shining brighter
than the north star up close and personal!
Your spirit lightens my darkness my friend.... :)
