You're like the eclipse of the moon

half here, half there

You're like the stars in the sky

a billion miles away

You're like the ocean

so mysterious deep underneath

You're like a wild bird

easily scared into flight

You're like a river and the rapids

unknowingly changing your flow

You're like a blustery day

always changing directions

You're like a canyon

beautiful but deadly if lost inside

You're like storm clouds

dark and grey emotions

I'm lost in trying to understand you

I yearn to change you ways

but you're not capable of change

so we'll go our separate ways

i have actually had some people tell me i was like some of what you describe here.
i did 20 years of this after my first divorce...really closed up...kept distance...didn't mean to, it just happened...
