LOVE THAT HURTS

LOVE THAT HURTS

A Poem by forrestcook
"

When someone who is supposed to love you hurts you.

"

When someone who is supposed
to love you unconditionally fails
to do so....it can cause so much pain.
For me, the only way to cope is
to remember the Savior's words
and forgive.

I’m tired of love that hurts me
every time I turn around.
I’m tired of lifting wings to fly
and ending on the ground.

I’m tired of your rude remarks,
when kindness could have shown.
I’m tired of this facade
as I dodge another stone.

I want at times to walk away
and leave you in the dust
and yet I know this cannot be
for in my God I trust.

He’s stood beside me in the night
with comfort when I weep;
He only asks me to forgive
so I’ll turn the other cheek.

So when you hurt and bruise me,
remember this, my friend,
there is another watching you
who will my soul defend.
