Sea Glass

Sea Glass

A Poem by Sylvia

I was born of litter on the seashore
Sparkling new but trimmed with jagged borders

Biting fools who crept too near me
Ignoring unrelenting tides

Water smoothed my edges
And dulled my sparkling hide

What's left of this
Is soft and dead

Not me
At all.

love the allegory i see here...her heart is a shell of what it used to be...
those jagged borders always dangerous like jelly fish...but too many men dulled her sparkle...
and now...
this reminds me so much of Plath....and what Ted did to her.
great piece
