Butterflies Never Die

Butterflies Never Die

A Poem by Frieda P
"

Star's artwork.

"

Days rush by so slowly, I wonder where you are

your dancing heart now quietly screams to me

you exited this world in hushed desperation

to all with a kaleidoscopic blind eye's view

My soul aches for your broken innocence

my mind wanders aimlessly to that day

sweetness of breath stifled too soon

suffocating vile secrets to be restrained

All that remains are  still photographs

the lovely memories of life still standing

a note to read between the lines

silence for an inner demon snuffed

A butterfly perched on my arm the day you left

it fluttered by without a care or uneasiness

simply made it's presence of beauty known in awe

it had no home just the wondrous freedom of flight

I wonder, are you in that place where butterflies never die?

Just a little FYI - I heard when butterflies appear in your sight that is a sign of your loved ones letting you know they are around. How true it is does not matter - if you feel that, why should it matter to what others think it. And we saw so many after my father passed away in October.

You contemplate the final resting place for a soul departed with such beauty that I am certain your words cause it to be as you write - the lovely butterfly soaring with such little effort. Its freedom abounds but it still takes time to land in a place that is familiar - 'perched on my arm the day you left', certainly imparts a message of peace where there are no answers to understand why a dear one has left this sphere.

I believe there is a place where butterflies never die, and that the one you miss so very, very much is in this place!!

Please take this hug from my heart and know how much your words touch me!!!

You've done a wonderful job with this subject. Death of any is a tragedy. Yet, we hold a special place even more in our hearts for the death of innocence and the innocent. Terrible loss written with grace.

Welcome :)
I've seen a butterfly at a similar time. Didn't realize it at the time.
I once shed tears for no reason other than what my mind and heart was telling me what was happening... and it did.
I'm like you. I think they are absolutely in that place now... waiting with smiles.

Thanks so much Kajal!
Your sister's sad death is difficult to recover from. This captures a warm memory that symbolises the fact that the butterfly is in the memory of your heart and it will not die while you live. So Frieda you keep your sister alive each day of your life. Such love is a beautiful thing.
