Raven Song

Raven Song

A Poem by Frieda P
"

Wrote this whilst listening to Ghost Song by Max Ablitzer, music included.

"
Previous Version
This is a previous version of Raven Song.

I flew with the dark raven
for he was the only one
   who could taste or see
such  insanely sweet madness in me
   he perched himself right astride
   without cawing a sound
naught a lecture to take care
Mockingly looming overhead
he stared me straight in the eye
So smooth and lovingly lush he sailed
soared within me to new heights
before we burst into fluid flight
I took him in languidly
   hauntingly mysterious elixir
   a cryptic spirit unto himself
Cracked half a vitriolic sad smile
whilst he prepared me for sin
Knocking back at my door
to taunt me raving yet afresh
he sing songs his intoxication into me,
then takes me for a mystical rendezvous
  raven's song so tastefully contrived

              we sing together,
                           twisted in consumption
                                                   the dark raven in me
                                                                    never judges

Mystical, black ravens taking you out on ethereal dates and slowly embedding itself into your soul, becoming forever a part of you (hence the singing together in the end, and the dark raven IN you never judging). What a dark centerpiece for a love felt by a person trying to empty themself.. Well done.

The imagery I received from this was ethereal! I watched the flight. Stunning, dark, and beautiful. Masterful piece.

I love the way you write, so dark and yet filled with sparkling light.

Interesting read, I like the avian descriptors and the expression of taste and savoring moments as much as another. Nice musical accompaniment too!

This has a dark, but somewhat erotic touch to it, These lines could mean so many things:
"soared within me to new heights
before we burst into fluid flight
I took him in languidly"
sounds like a beautifully exotic love scene.

Enjoyed this write. Trace

This reminded me of a spirit guide. It guides us to places at times that we'd rather not visit. A raven isn't going to show you rainbows and light, your pick of animal is quite fitting.

Nope, no rainbows or unicorns here Anne, thanks so much...
I feel like this is what Poe's Raven was doing just before going to perch atop that bust of Pallas... Dark and deep, with rich imagery, Frieda.

Well, isn't this a pleasantly dark piece... it certainly spoke to my darker half. Excellent work as always, Frieda.
