Anoint Me with Poetry

Anoint Me with Poetry

A Poem by Frieda P

Color me in metaphorical hues,
    tinges of red's soft sonnets
paint a picture within inky filigreed lace
    and fine silken threads
my religion breathes your favored essence
    twist poetry into my hair,
let me hear the music sing
bathe me in champagne bubbled prose
sending butterfly shivers up my spine
I breathe the air you pen
                          and then some again
write in blood, wake up the oxygen flow
                                  the words that artists bleed
you are my strength, my power, my weakness

i dine on the phases of your moons
cut me deep into the heart & gut
watch the movement of echoes unfold
                                       whilst moving majestic amethyst  mountains,
shred my soul with your dragon's breath
anoint my breasts, oils that seep thy quill
make me punch drunk dizzy
drenching me in your sparkling wines
clinging from the vines of destiny's path
my soul existence is dependent
 upon a verse

I love poetry that flows effortlessly and this piece does so with style. Beautiful metaphors and usage of colors. I am left in awe of the radiance of this poem. I felt like I was floating down a river of poetic brilliance. So glad I found you and your wonderful words.

Truly humbled by your review Sir Joseph, thanks so much!
you are both an empathe and a seductress, weaving you magic across the page like finely spun golden tribute and reverence for those things beloved. sometimes it seems you have emerged from a trance and immediately transposed your thoughts, directly from the very depths of light. a poet's soul , indeed, possesses your heart. wonderful!

This is lovely poetry...sublime, surreal, sensual, and a great start to what is hopefully going to be a fantastic day. "My soul existence is dependent/upon a verse"--that's how I feel ALL the time. I can be driving along in my car, see something, and suddenly the words to a poem come into my head and I'm trying hard to keep a hold of them so that they can be written down later. So, back to your piece...the imagery was indeed fantastic, nothing short of amazing on the wording and flow. Well done!

Coming from someone who's work moves me to the core, that's quite a compliment, thanks Lily. xo
i guess we all were annointed at birth with poetry..those of us who write it...for some it took longer to surface than others...you certainly had yours surface in infinite words...

you are so talented...i found one spot...i kept wanting to read "i dine on the phrases/ of your moon" rather than "phases" just because you had that metaphor going so strongly in the piece...and it continued after that line...but that's just me.

wonderful work as always.

Very smooth and liquid was this poem. It gave me a sense fo floating on scented air as I read. You have a mesmerizing quality to everything you write and I feel fortunate to be the recipient of your enchantment.
