~Stormy Weather

~Stormy Weather

A Poem by Frieda P

caught in the eye of stormy destruction
somwehere 'tween here and there
momma said 'don't hang with that boy'
storm chasers called it,
moral turptitude category 3,
uprooted with bombastic force
thrown like a ragdoll,    landed in
the debris of indifference
told to vacate,    instead stuck it out
life rafts were at the ready

I prefer the slow death of drowning
  slipped off the pier of
cognizant
    swallowed deeply my intuition
took a swan dive off intellect
landed in a den of iniquity
sinking in muck of broken promises
            they buried me at sea,
               along side common sense

I think Fema will rescue you along with the national guard. I love the analogy between love and the weather or in this case a Tornado of F3 . I thought you were going to go all out with F5 which is utter destruction...Lol
A splendid poem and very creative...:)

The last thing boxer loses is their punch - the first thing a lover loses is their common sense.
Great imagery in this Frieda - brava!

"I prefer the slow death of drowning
slipped off the pier of cognizant" My favorite lines Frieda. You never fail woman.

" they buried me at sea,
along side common sense"
Damn, and they sure did. They did that to me too. And we're poets for the afterlife.

Frieda, I like this so much and the second stanza is amazing! I love the word choice and the wit and everything. :) I got to watch out for the stormy weather. ;)

Before I say anything, I nearly titled my new one The Other Way Of Drowning, but I know it would have been misinterpreted as a dark statement when it actually wasn't. As you know, any poem involving water will resonate with me, especially a shoreline. This one made me think of Dad in a way. Don't worry, I mean it in a positive context. Your observations are deep and decisive as always my friend. Well done. x

It always seems I read you first thing in my morning or last thing at night and at both times, you rock, sincerely xx

Some stunning lines all the through this tempestuous journey ! Thrilling nevertheless!

Common sense being noted as the only functional weapon in the meager arsenal of weapons to fight the wars of a toxic relationship is what makes this poem most notable. Emotions can indeed be turned against us in the field. Well done.

Meager arsenal, you said a mouthful there Tai, thanks.
Intellect and common sense are the rescue boats... but they are way out past the horizon...

Momma knows best! Loving your metaphor in this poem.

"the slow death of drowning"

Glutton for punishment, I'd say

"they buried me at sea,
along side common sense"

Common sense? what's that?..... I feel you on this one Frieda---- I've been swept up in too many tides, left to drown in my own stupidity.
