Titanic Betrayal

Titanic Betrayal

A Poem by Frieda P

You don't want to rock the boat for justice
you tread water within a dead man's float
the quintessential boat springs a leak
purveyors sitting on the dock of the bay watch in awe
as life preservers available are already accounted for
you sink to the depths of the Titanic,
nary a Jack in sight to save the day

This is one of my favorite movies, Frieda. Knowing that this really happened makes it all the more chilling. There were enough boats to save everyone, but only part of the people escaped. The thought of half filled boats floating within hearing distance of the freezing and drowning people makes me so sad. Very well done in so few words. Angi~

Titanic. What a tragedy. Thanks for capturing the heroism of Jack in the last line, Frieda. His death was a great loss, especially for his beloved.

Jack saved the day for Rose, but more people would have been saved if those life boats had been more than half full. Perhaps if the Titanic’s swimming pool tub (if it had one such as modern love boats do) had been emptied and unbolted from the deck, then it could have floated as a huge rescue boat in itself. Sometimes common sense is often as good as bravery.

Self-preservation at any cost and deceit are not attributes to be proud off ! Not enough like Jack around in this world !

A virtuous, virtuoso Frieda !

I'm seriously moved Frieda!
You put me right there in the midst of a frightening situation. I could not imagine the pain and loss.
Well done!

Thanks so much Quill, jazzed you enjoyed!
Happens, not just with the obvious: the Titanic, a floating city of all kinds of people, from virtually every walk of life. But i'm wondering in my early morning mental muddle, if your writing is about life in general, that the Titanic is more a metaphor for impending danger for each and every one of us who walk around eyes to the ground? Fine, fine writing as always, petulia.

Be brave N!
Jack didn't really save the day, anyway... we sort of have to sink or swim on our own sometimes. But it's always better when someone throws you a life jacket...
