~Communion of Poets

~Communion of Poets

A Poem by Frieda P

Walt Whitman
“I act as the tongue of you,
... tied in your mouth . . . . in mine it begins to be loosened.”
― Walt Whitman

The spaces between us grow closer together
as your pen spills vital relevance unto the pages
wafting by in abundant grandeur
the scent is quite intoxicating
innate
lifeblood to fulfill our quill's revelry,
words that enchant and gratify to lift the spirits
hearts aglow or souls asunder
we split hairs and break bread
recompense to satisfy conscious
 yearnings
that which separates us makes us stronger
to share another moment in the life of
each and every poet who possesses the wherewithal
to lay it on the line and communion with others
anointed in the realm of poetry we are connected
as ink scrawls across the pages into our hearts
bleeding emotions to join in our commandments of commonality
our swords pen the words that echo humanity

I feel like I have just been knighted! The best thing about writing poetry is having someone get what I am saying and relate to it. There are so many people in my non internet life (almost all of them, in fact) who say the pretty things and pat me on the head when they read something I have written. It's in the eyes, though. When their eyes glaze over, I know they don't get it. I am so happy I have this place to share and whine and joke and cry and scream and remember in. So happy. Nicely done, Frieda. Angi~

Poetry is much more than rhyming and all. It's putting how we feel on paper - for everyone to see. It's about us opening up and pouring our hearts out.

"anointed in the realm of poetry we are connected

bleeding emotions to join in our commandments of commonality
our swords pen the words that echo humanity"

This is stunning!

Frieda, this piece is simply a treasure! We are indeed a community. Poetry is much more than rhyming and meter. It's putting to paper (or computer screen, ha-ha!) these emotions bubbling up inside of us & giving others a peek into our souls. Beautiful job, my friend:)

A very profound beautiful and unique piece indeed Frieda... I never thought of it before but we
do confess in our poetic way...I loved this piece...Rose:)

sort of like those catholic days...this reminds me of.

had to go to confession before going to communion...unbare the soul, write the words, we do our penance and then only those who have done this can meet at the communion rail...those who understand

and we poets have that communion, need to share the body and blood of what we write of who we are with others of the same body and blood...

this shouts at me as if from a pulpit....Poets rise and come together.

why is it, that some just won't?

that some just sit in the back pew and jeer, and hurl insults...why don't they go to a different church...and profess their lack of faith in words.

I agree we here have a kinship through our writings; a passion within that only we can relate to. You delved into our inner souls with this.

You have blended these ideas together very powerfully, an exceptionally well written piece, that is engaging from the beginning until the end, a fine write.

Just wow, Frida, fantastic and such a classical one here.... one of my heart, it's good to be back and jump in to this one, at first, :) of you.... you're fantastic, I think the connection, of all times, connect us, together, and together alone... it has a bond, that actually for me is not to put into words, sometimes, it's just whispering in silence, this brought out a lot of emotions for me personally... well well done my sweet friend, and hope your Pneumonia is getting on the better hand, in my thoughts always love... xx

Extreme good write this one!

A 'wow' from you, high praise, thanks so much! :-)
This poem made me feel I am part of something truly elite, truly special. We are all connected, strangely not through color, creed or culture. We are connected by our pens, our poetic spirit and it is through our writing that we break bread together. This poem told me that under all outward differences, we are really similar.

If I had to quote a line that blew me away, I would have to quote the whole poem, so I will just say what I have said a countless times, you are one hell of a poetess Frieda! Mind blowing, beautiful and spectacular!
