...at the end of the day

...at the end of the day

A Poem by Frieda P

i've lived through a life of stolen kisses
baby blankets, hits and misses
cried a million tears in retrospect
soup du jour and soup for one
apple peels and bruised egos
all encompassing lust and love
& tiny tots bouncing on my knee
lived within passion, pity and grace
fall out from past grievances and haste
endured & defied vast undefined confines
treading in my own footprints,
yet, the world goes round & round
no matter where i've been or what i've seen
shut the door on one chapter and another begins
pretty posies and hurricane's wrath
ups and downs of this insane merry-go-round
still in the corner of my eye always exist
a glimmer of sanity that walks the dog
takes out the trash and sips regal tea
clouds illusions of my mind,
changes in the valleys and high seas
lofty inspirations awakening the dead
'work it or leave it alone'
over the rainbow in my head
spinning to the tune of the beat goes on
high on life, then giddy to a frown
i've made myself dizzy no doubt
at the end of the day
when the world is at bay
i wonder still,  would i want it any other way

Very true words above my Poet friend. Life is what it is and we must accept some things. I like the good journey in thoughts in the poem. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

I love this Frieda. Life's a Pandoras Box and when its opened it can deliver so much more than we ever expected good or bad. I like that glimmer of hope as in many ways its this glimmer that certainly reminds us that this is the way life was meant to be....tried, tested and lived so the answer is no....I wouldn't want it any other way.

Some really sophisticated alliteration here. A poem of taking stock of all the goods in the cupboard.

To the muse of get up and do it again, you express so well that poetry is truly a taste of life
written down like a menu for what ever you have on hand.
A new day... and a happy new year.

Thanks Thomas, glad you enjoyed.
I don't think I'd change a thing in my life to be honest, I am happy with how and where I've lived; I adore my family and friends and I swear, WC is like my second home... I couldn't ask for a better life.

You have summed this up so well. Everyone's daily routine is in here if they dig deep enough. And we do it every single day... do you think they'd want to change it? And who's to say they can't? Why not swap it around a bit for a bit of fun and a change if you really want to? ;-))

Loved it!

Nah, it's not too bad... pleasure as alwayss. Flip flops & all that jazz! xo
I love this poem, it shows the ups and downs of life. Not only the trials you'll face, but the joy you'll have to and that it all fits together in one big puzzle. I think the first two lines were my favorite.

Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed my little trip into the life of. ;-)
I've lived illusions and realities...I have lived to my own beat....and I am proud to have done that...and wouldn't trade any of it...

me too...I relate to this poem...the experiences good and bad make us what we are right this instant...

and they are memories to treasure...because they are us.

this has such good rhythm...Frieda.

Life is always going to give us challenges and hoops to jump through. If we have the right perspective on life and realize how lucky we are it is all worth it. You've penned these thoughts brilliantly.

Thanks again Lacey, you've humbled me, muchly appreciated.
A poetic autobiography, so powerfully penned. Life gives, and takes, and above all... it goes on. This is truly an amazing piece, Frieda.

Thanks for your kind words Rita, so jazzed you enjoyed this one.
Who can say if it would have been better if different choices were made. There is no crystal ball and we do the best we can. You've done the jobs of dozens and still you look for that silver lining, that glimmer:

yet in the corner of my eye always exist
a glimmer of sanity that walks the dog
takes out the trash and sips regal tea

She's there, we just need to hold onto her. It's a beautiful piece of poetry, we persevere in hopes that she'll be there with a cuppa and a smile.
