Divided Asunder~

Divided Asunder~

A Poem by Frieda P
"

♥ For my beloved sister Lee ♥

"
Whilst you were vibrantly breathing,
they'd make remarks, we looked so alike
I was naturally delighted,
since you were much younger than me
You were still too silly a girl
to realize...how fickle fate can be
'you' wanted to appear older,
so it suited us both fine...
I relish over these memories

You're gone, I no longer see my reflection,
as though part of me has been removed...
I wonder if you realize what you've done,
splitting us in two, sisters torn apart
I'm still the one alive, so to speak
taking up space, trying to breathe the air,
although I know you'd want me to thrive...
it's so hard without you here by my side

Your butterfly spirit still dwells giving me strength
more than time and space has come between us...
I'd much rather people were comparing us still,
that our laugh was identical and they couldn't tell us apart

Still pick up the phone to hear your saved messages
I overheard someone speak of you the other day
'which, the one 'still living' on Lindsley?'  they had no clue
that breath means nothing when you're divided asunder

Your sister is so pretty, and she does look like you a lot. I don't want to use the word "was" coz she still lives within you, her spirit is with you, and this is seen in this poem. This is a very good tribute to her. May she continually rest in peace.

This poem evoked so much emotion which I think is what poetry is supposed to do. You presented a touching memorial, the strength a soul has to latch onto us and remain even after its vehicle has expired. And you also illustrate how comments by innocent enough bystanders sting. You did a beautiful job here. I was choked up by the time I got to the end. Awesome work.

Oh Frieda my sweet friend. I am so sorry. My older Sister died in 2010. I sat with her during her last few hours they told us she would not live much longer and she didn't. It is so hard not to hear her laugh and someone will say something like she use to and it will bring her to my mind even though she is there in my heart daily. I am so sorry for your loss. You are a special friend. She would want you to thrive.

Well, that broke my heart. Amazing job. I can't listen to the song because of it being connected too strongly to my mom, but I know it's a good song and a perfect choice for this poem. Your emotions are so strong in this one.

((((((Frieda/Lee))))))) hard to know what to say... she lives in you.. sometime share her with us, her loves, her hopes, yes even her (and now your) pain... allow us to hold you both in our hearts.. a special sister, a special poem and a special poet Frieda.. ~~redzone

Thanks dear curt, much appreciate your support and sentiments here, you've touched my heart. x
Ever so sorry. This is really good and beautiful. She up there I know is loving it. But also was sad to read. I know what it's like to lose a love one or one you care about deeply.

She smiles intently in the shadows barely there but reason given to the one or those who never cease to forgo, knowing she's always there in spirit. In these moments, those quiet hours, the whispers brush along side. And without reason, just intently letting herself be known she's still without mention. Knows you care deeply in keeping your sacred rule nothing could divide. In your words she read every emotion of poured about in obvious astound. The heart bids no adieu for it will always be in loving mems of her so beau.

Comforting hugs for you. ((

Scott...............
can't imagine what it is like to lose a sibling...i still have my sister...but this is so sad....and reminds me of the other day when i was talking with one of my best friends...he is the only sibling left..he lost a brother in 2004 and then in 2006 (in one year) he lost all three of his sisters to different diseases...

sometimes i do wonder why some of us live and some of us don't.
