Hallow'd Breathing

Hallow'd Breathing

A Poem by Frieda P

Haunted in my flagrant dreams,
    awake on hallow'd ground
you watch me breathe
        as I seek you out
cold spirits taunted past
           spasmodic verses chant
hollow insides afraid to sleep
  your sanctification renders me
                  uncomfortably conscious
numb within breath's shallow inhale
undone in the nothingness of rhyme
   fearing truth's brutal reality
     bewailing in grief's heartfelt desire
pull me up to new sight'd heights
   in your wayward plight's surrender
save me from this cruel humanness

Very well worded, Frieda. Sorry, I always repeat my compliments to you. :P Anyway, I think in "you watch me breath", it's supposed to be "breathe"?

"save me from this cruel humanness" In my dark days, I would've nodded to this but I'm happy being human and being alive right now. ;) Don't stop dancing, Frieda. :P

Thanks so much my sweet friend.
on the wings of an angel, I want to escape this life..
sick of all humanities lies I want you to bring me to life
with your words of angelic salvation
I can't wait for the next destination.. a safer place with friends like you is where I want to be for eternity.
Great poem < 3 Bless you and may you always have the strength to move on for you'll be reunited one day and it'll be a big party and I hope I'm invited!

Thanks for your poetic response Kee, and of course!
I would swear you were totally in love with someone new by the last two poems of yours I read. What else could inspire such soul touching writes? This took my breath away.

I suppose truth can be brutal. And humans cruel. But is brutal truth crueler than soothing lies?

Six of one and all that jazz I guess, depends, thanks Mark.
Every breath is sacred - every breath without a loved one, a reminder... A deeply affecting poem, Frieda.

Thanks so much Rita.
sidenote- i love that song- main note- Making a poem flow without rhyming a single word is something you make seem so easy and is a talent I still have yet to master.

a riveting write. When the things we crave torment us in the same breath.

Indeed it is, thanks Brittany.
Great piece. Sad and a heartwrenching one at that; no one wants to feel this way. It sure can be cruel.

Indeed it can, thanks BlackRose.
"Wake me up inside
Save me from the nothingness I've become.." from the song into your poem, from the poem reflecting the song, you express what is real about love and loss, the hollowness inside of the pain... Frieda except to acknowledge your loss, your love, your artistry, your humanEness, I cannot add to what others have already said to you... I wish I could... I love your poem though you have once again broken my heart... be well my sweet friend.. ~~redzone
