Hallow'd Breathing

Hallow'd Breathing

A Poem by Frieda P

Haunted in my flagrant dreams,
    awake on hallow'd ground
you watch me breathe
        as I seek you out
cold spirits taunted past
           spasmodic verses chant
hollow insides afraid to sleep
  your sanctification renders me
                  uncomfortably conscious
numb within breath's shallow inhale
undone in the nothingness of rhyme
   fearing truth's brutal reality
     bewailing in grief's heartfelt desire
pull me up to new sight'd heights
   in your wayward plight's surrender
save me from this cruel humanness

Very well worded, Frieda. Sorry, I always repeat my compliments to you. :P Anyway, I think in "you watch me breath", it's supposed to be "breathe"?

"save me from this cruel humanness" In my dark days, I would've nodded to this but I'm happy being human and being alive right now. ;) Don't stop dancing, Frieda. :P

Grazie mille my friend.
Frieda, I hope you know how this poem touches me so deeply. Your heart is so filled with sorrow in loss, but your words always reach inside and tug on my heart. I know how you must be feeling, I know how emptiness, when we lose someone that we care for more than anything rips us into tiny pieces. But you my friend, even with this sadness hanging above you like Hallowed Breaths channel this sadness into beauty. You are an amazing woman, a fantastic poet and someone that gives each of us strength through her words. If I could...change places with your loss...I would. It would please me more than you know...because it is not I who belongs here, it is her. And then your life could be complete. Loved this poem.

This piece has left me with hollow insides...and I will weep a thousand tears before I will sleep again.
My heart hurts so badly for you, Luv, there are no words...no words at all.

Thanks so much Angel, muchly appreciated.
Yes, humanness can be cruel sometimes Mrs.R, truth is brutal, and as it feels to me these days, rhyme is nothing. These have been the words I've been looking for to describe myself as of late, but somebody else had to write them, and that's why I relate to your work so much...you just know how to relay every possible emotion through your words. Well done as always my drear...xo

Thanks so much Steve, always appreciate your kind words my friend xo
I can't decide if I consider this one to be dark or if I consider it to be lit. Both apply as It is a place I feel I know somehow well. A place where shadows stand at the edge of my bed rendering me paralyzed and I feel myself leaving my body, lifting the shadow with me. "Cruel humanness"..Love the way you strike well and you strike hard but life is very much like this voice within and pain so deep to its well of currency. Wonderful muse...I'm gonna go with Vincent Price/Sylvia Plath since you left me with Leonard Cohen..smiles. Love it~

Those who departed and left indellible marks on our lives feel utmost gratitude when we save their name upon the pages of our hearts, when we share the stories of their tortured lives, when we pray for wings to keep us soaring in this cruel humanness which can be a great mess. We are like a kite held by strings of dim hopes dancing in the winds of tumulteous emotions can't decide which direction(s) to go. I just lost a distant cousin to suicide in Beirut( did not know him real good ) who had severe depressions, married and have one 2 year old girl. I felt so bad for this is unheard of in that culture. That is why I feel your pain and suffering but it is liberating to know she loved you as you do too...An excellent ode to her...:).........
