You took my breath, Sylvia

You took my breath, Sylvia

A Poem by Frieda P

exhaled an insurgence of reckless words

onto the pages in an impetuous squeeze

aspirations bled disasters of pen's toxic desire

    insanity's reflections within polarizing ink

plummeting souls of a menacing sundown's revival

tormenting praise's influence pain's abysmal grip

hero's name written in shadows of colossus

jar'd phrases before departure off daddy's ledge

upon graffiti'd walls of Sylvia's egg rock psyche

knocking the world's poetic axis sideways in madness

relegated to darkness, terrifying bump in the night

metaphors of an untimely light passage's prerogative

gone of each labor'd breath's confessional release

sword bled a crimson siphon of exhaust's final tilt

melancholy chants of 'I Am' resonate in my head

brag of a familiar beat that collapsed a b*****d heart

footsteps knocked at the wither'd  mushroom sighs

in notes left beyond a carbon monoxide winter's gate

This is gorgeously sad. You've captured events from her life with a profound empathy for her suffering and for her untimely ending. I love her work but it pains me that her brilliance came from such a dark and deep place that eventually she just embraced it. She was her most prolific in the months before she died. I've always thought of it as the calm before the storm. You've done a wonderful job in your tribute to her and the in creating the loss we feel when we read this.

How funny, I just honored Poe in a poem and you brilliantly honored Plath in this piece. It seems the best artist in the world are a bit on the edge of madness.

I spent part of last night listening to her on you tube...the sound of her voice is both powerfully moving and haunting. She was an amazing poet....a pioneer in many ways. Her blunt "this is how it is" style came without apology in a time when women with opinions were not appreciated. You remind me of her in your writing style and also in your own struggles. And id dare to say your poetry is equally significant if more so for women who are abuse survivors. The one thing i know without a doubt is some voices are meant to be "heard".

This poem is a moving tribute to her...fantastic ink here hun...

When we admire somebody, we aspire to be like him/her in one way or another...or even in the smallest detail that we know about him/her. And we also want to show our gratitude in the best way we could.
Your tribute speaks a lot about her and how her works affected you as a writer.
Great job, Fri!

Come to think about it just knowing a little about Sylvia Plath and her life, you and her share the aspects of suffering and torment( in a good way ) and that drives you to reach out and touch other souls to share your message and stop their suffering, to show them what to expect from this life and its injustices, to bring hope midst all of that. You will resonate in our head like her. Excellent...:).........
