Casablanca state of mind...‏

A Poem by Frieda P
"

~when two lover's woo

"

In a Casablanca state of mind,
   want to be kissed
                   like it's the last time
           remember every detail,
the romance in my soul
                fell into a deep slumber
yet as time goes by
I want you, to make me believe
 in love again,
even when a gun is pointed at my heart

Paris in moonlight sounds grander
               than those fine piano keys,

I want to play it again   ~
                    for recollection's old times sake

I could be your Ilsa, you can be my Rick ~

C'mon,

     Bogart me baby...

I love the addition of the music. It seems really romantic, unless you've actually watched Casablanca. I love that it hints at darkness, without flat out stating it:) " I want you, to make me believe in love again, even when a gun is pointed at my heart"

"Bogart me baby" great line...i love how you made this love poem of longing using references to one of the best movies ever.

"go ahead and play it sam, if she can take it, so can i"

"even though the gun is pointed at my heart"

so dark, so you, here's looking at you, ms. frieda...

╰☆╮I didn't review this before because I hadn't seen the movie, but my film studies professor had us watch it recently, so now I finally get it, haha. This is an awesome poem and having seen the movie, there's that hint of the tragedy of their story. Brilliant work.╰☆╮

Oh, Freida, this is gorgeous, I love how you wound lines and scenes from my favorite film into this. I cannot hear that song without the whole film playing in my head. Shelved in my library now.

"Even when a gun is pointed at my heart"

So bittersweet but hopeful... I love the language you used in this poem, Frieda. You structure words in a way that conveys even the deepest of emotion to the reader without losing the individuality that comes along with your writing. Well done :)
