Fire in the belly of mankind's heart ~

Fire in the belly of mankind's heart ~

A Poem by Frieda P

Can you hear fires roaring,
       lost in blood eye's
            translation
of survival,
misted mountains mourn
        in smoky denial's regret,
city's a'flame on back burners
              of concrete tears,
rivers bubble over
             of hollow souls
skies crashing upon
              lonely towns screaming,
trees merely cast shadows
          upon the ground
without the fiery fight
             in the belly of man,
we burn together
         if not for fellowship
in the interest
       of humankind's heart,
communion with
          brothers and sisters
capture the heat
           within our souls,
and let us spew forth

      in unity's cry

I can sense all that you have put into this piece and I must say, it really blends well with the feeling of the world turning and turning in the wrong way while you partake in unity with others who feel the same passion brewing within them to somehow change something, anything. Well done.

You've pointed out the fact Freida.. "Blood's eye"- we humans are turning so selfish that we are hinting each other town."lonely towns"- they sigh and cry over the destruction but they are helpless. The ending is in an optimistic note that - come on brothers and sisters lets cry out for unity. This touched my heart cause now in India we had a cultural riot going on,my brother was an unknown victim of it.. Thanks for the revolutionary write Freida.. ★ love and wishes N***a★ :)

Sigh, so much injustice in this world....xo
What I got from the beginning of this piece was the end. Perhaps global warming or nuclear warfare, or bombs being dropped and setting fire to the world. Maybe even alien attack (I mostly say this because of the video game I am obsessed with). But then you backtrack a little at the end and make it about us banding together to help our kind survive. Will it take some kind of apocalypse to get us to cooperate? Maybe. Either way, your words are as beautiful and thought provoking as ever.

Haha, I figured that was a long shot, but glad to have brought a smile to your face dear!
Yes, it's all about human survival. At first, we struggled against the perils of Nature so our tiny human tribe would grow to its present size. Now we struggle against the peril of human self-destructiveness which threatens human extinction. A constructive Unity of Purpose is the solution. Deep inside of each of us we must find a reason to preserve our species if it’s to continue.

Beautiful and sad. I thought this was very well worded and woven together quite nicely.

It does. But old hate block new hope.
The fact that you can spend as much time as you do on the site, and still find time to churn out multiple masterpieces in a day, is the most glaring testament to your poetic genius, which is unparalleled if you ask me...this time you've taken us on a bloody-eyed, volcanic tour through apocalypse, dropping us off at an unveiling of a social commentary with a urgent plea for unity...mind you, this plea was hinted at in the title...you always nail it with the titles, you have an uncanny sense of how to set the table with them...what more can I say, I can only state the obvious so many times...genius Mrs.R, an infinite well of genius you are :) xo
