Balm for the soul...

Balm for the soul...

A Poem by Frieda P
"

"
Thou art the skies, my vast ocean,
        sanctuary
 in the night's pitch dark
  quietude like the flutter
               of butterfly wings
roar of the sea when need be,
wildflowers of my bloom
            in wanton prayer,
     envelops solitude's endearment
   balm for the soul,
                    a dance within spirit
frivolous enjoyment
                    of shared laughter,
   satisfaction
              in the hours of stillness,
surrendering
 anticipation's expectations,
 lifted to a higher plane
            of Utopian gratification
      centering
                                my euphoric quest

The poem is amazing and beautiful. It felt like silence prayer and thoughts. I like the places and thoughts I was able to feel from the very good description. Thank you dear friend for sharing the outstanding poetry.

It's virtually impossible to keep up with your torrid pace love, but this is the one I will start with...I supposed I should have started with this one...this is certainly a piece of reflection and a search for inner peace, and dare I say it, I come from this piece feeling like you may have found some, if even for a little while...I also found myself relating to many elements of it...'the roar of the seas when need be' reminded me a bit of my childhood, and the shoreline house I still visit on a regular basis, mostly when I need to get away from my own place, which I must do from time to time for a number of reasons...even within your own thoughts you are dancing...that bit made me smile...my own quest has yet to unearth the kind of euphoria that you refer to here, but it goes on nonetheless...I also can't help but pointing out that there is a reference to Utopia in the piece that I just wrote...synergy I tell you ;) But there is much more inner peace in this poem than in mine...maybe I have a poem such as this in me but it's simply not ready to come out yet...in the meantime I bask in the surreal, almost ecstatic, imagery that you've served up here...then again you leave me basking in everything you write...the depths of your imagination are endless...what more can I say, another day, another gem from Mrs.R ;) xo

I love that title, it's so calm and soothing and "a dance within spirit" I think could be a truly uplifting experience. Wish you could bottle and market it - you'd be onto a winner ! But the poem is already that :) Penny

Of all the phrases used here in this piece, 'twas "wanton prayer" and speak of expectations that had caught my eye and introduced me to another aspect of the piece I had not recognized upon first reading. Wildflowers in a bloom, the surrendering of "anticipation's expectations", Utopian gratification and speak of a quest for euphoria seem to imply that such a world is perfect to your speaker, but was not expected. Of all the places your speaker could have gone to, it was here that they never expected to end up in, yet, they is happy. Well done!

Wow now that's something else, thanks so much Avinash. :)
Beautiful words, a bit of calm in the midst of all the angst and turmoil I have been reading by other authors on here. Thanks for the break. Well done.

I needed a break from my own angst, thanks so much Noel....
A balm for the soul this poem is... just what was needed this evening. Aren't we all on that euphoric quest? Beautiful, Frieda.

Damn, well then I will plead temporary insanity.

That's allowed since it's true, except not the 'temporary' part.
