Grounded madness...

Grounded madness...

A Poem by Frieda P
"

Madness like a washed up sea,
      wind without direction &
           stars sans illumination
footsteps in but one grain of sand,
crushing dusty dugout's salvation
       that never reaches shore,
broken pieces of a glass jigsaw puzzle
    mornings lit of sundown's promise
saying fare thee well at the end day
tempered within the fire of bitter love tunes,
acknowledged capacity for light in dark passages
lit within the intensity of folly's frenzy
a predilection's soft spot lost in the fray,
                    that keeps me grounded

stars sans illumination
footsteps in but one grain of sand,

Very different imagery here, I actually made a face when I read the grain of sand line. Not in scrutiny, but trying to picture a footprint in a single grain of sand. And of course, would stars without illumination be black holes? Or just a black sky? Very interesting Frieda, I love when you make me question things.

Ha ha, you....be quiet! ;) Thanks so much Kelly....
The spark of madness keeps us going, I think...

"...acknowledged capacity for light in dark passages..." This line really touches me. This is the essesnce of humanity...

mornings lit of sundown's promise
saying fare thee well at the end day
that line strikes me today. sometimes I read and I don't know why a line or two will jump out. I suppose this is one of those times. This line is saturated with resonance for me.

lit within the intensity of folly's frenzy

that keeps me grounded

Superb phrasing, Ms. F.

Looking upon the brighter side of the situation in order to keep yourself grounded and collected, despite the utter confusion that the world around you is being. Stars lacking their glow, wind without a direction, it's complete madness, yet, I know how your speaker copes. Well done.

If that was your goal, mission accomplished! ;)
I love this Frieda, it's a complete contradiction yet it works.
Being grounded amongst the madness.
A wind with in direction I love that, like a tornado that will sweep you up to the land of Oz.
I know you're shaking your head right now wondering what is she prattling on about. :P

For me, this is how some of us cope. I think of it as just crazy enough to be sane allowing for us to carry on
