PrologueA Chapter by KaitieThe full moon hung low in the sky, casting feeble shafts of light through the hole in the roof and striking the still pool in the middle of the dusty room. The pool shimmered and misted, releasing wafts of smokey mist in the dull air.
A teenage boy leaned over the pool, squinting into the glassy surface. He pushed back the lock of jet-black hair from his face that had fallen there and leaned in closer. Hesitantly, he reached out a pale hand and gently tapped the middle of the pool. It shimmered once more and then showed a human face. The face had long, slightly curly chestnut brown hair with bright grass-green eyes and a pretty oval face.
"Are you sure?" the boy said into the pool, "Is this your final decision?"
The pool shimmered once more before returning to it's still position. The boy stayed beside the pool for a few minutes before getting up and leaving the room. © 2013 KaitieAuthor's Note
