Freebird

A Poem by Kell
"

Poem I just spat out about my ex (who was my best friend and the greatest love of my life) We haven't spoken for about three months now..

"

If I was a bird, i'd fly away from here,
Spread my wings and soar into the sky,
never looking back or wondering why.
With no destination in mind,
if only life could be so kind.
Yet here I am trapped in a four walled room,
stuck with my never ending thoughts of you.
Memories of my youth,
Memories of us two.
And now that's all they'll ever be,
distant and clouded, just like me.
I lost my way between the love and hate,
only to discover it was far too late.
Left leaving life in the hands of fate.
"I want you to want me", she said,
Man, she can't get that song out of her head.
Or the boy who meant everything,
But now has become nothing.
If only he could see her now,
She would stand up and take a bow,
For all the things he showed her how.
Like what it means to be let down,
Kicking and screaming without a sound.
So i'll raise my glass and make a toast,
To the boy who hurt me the most,
And the bird I have become,
And the things that can't be undone.
I'm as a free as a bird now,
and this bird you cannot change.
