Tugging War

Tugging War

A Poem by KourtneyG
"

This is about my anxiety and how I try to hide it from the ones I love.

"

The sky is blue, My mind is blue

Like a tugging war between a storm and a rainbow

The wind rushes through my hand

As I fight through the rain

Grasping for air

It never seems to end

I try to stay calm

As my friends draw near

But every moment seems to be unclear

I fight the urge to run in fear

As I reload my thoughts I try to hear

Moments go by and I watch with my eyes

As the ones I love seem to pile high

Laughing and playing with their smiles so wide

They seem to have forgotten the thing I like to hide

As Paul points out, many people feel this way, but when in the middle of feeling it, you can't convince yourself of that becuz everyone else always looks like they're breezing thru the moments while we are choking with uncertainty & self-doubt. Your poem is well-expressed to get across the way it can feel for some & this is why I prefer being alone in the wilderness now that I'm old & I can afford to check out from society! Life out there in the "real world" has gotten even weirder since I moved to the boondocks ten years ago! It's no wonder young people are experiencing anxiety! *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

The strange things is, your friends probably feel the same.
Sometimes it's better to get things out in the open, that way you become stronger and the fear subsides.
We all carry fear, keeps us ahead of the running pack, a bit like failure, you need it to succeed.
