Swell answer he gave "them" I'd have probably blurted out "fireman" and let a great opportunity pass me by. Who knows when (if ever) they will ask again,; sounds like a one shot deal to me. The question "they" asked him raises another, a sort of follow up question, "And what are you now?" I'm betting he's a fireman.
