Betrayal is a horrible thing...

Betrayal has been

their cardinal sin.

Turning my years

into blood filled tears.

I would always submit

to them I would commit

everything I had

to mimic their fad.

Today is the day

that I break away.

I leave them behind

for those so kind.

To those I love,

you raise me above.

All of the pain

is a dried stain.

You release me

so I can be me.

Very attention getting and it drew me in to the rest of your piece on betrayal and pain. I can imagine the physical and emotional pain thrusted upon you. Your ordeal was captured in melancholy ruby, black and purple-the colors of bruises.
