It's happening again
My thoughts are bleeding through my pen
My writer's block in shock tonight
as I enter dawn by candlelight
Divulge to all my joy and pain
reiterate my words again
From wrinkled mind to wrinkled page
I spill it all in grace or rage
Do I attract the friends I make
by inviting laughs for egos' sake?
Or tugging at their empathy
To bring them closer still to me?
I write to share a common ground
Indulging in the craft I've found
By seeping through my trusty pen
I've found my niche', my love, my friend.
Gosh, Marí,
As beautiful a writer as you are and with as creative an imagination your beautiful pen expresses your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and metaphoric imagery with, I cannot begin to grasp you'd ever fall into the grip of writer's block. But, from the assurance of your increasing excitement, woven down through every line, I am so very pleased to know it has been so wonderfully dispelled.
The title is perfect, in that I've always felt you're in your "Niche".
Marí, I'd like to see this little beaut gathered into quatrains or couplets to make it flow smoothly, as the spaces between every line lends the mind's-eye and reading a stumbling, disjointed (cold?) effect, making rhymes a bit un-smooth to follow, too.
Interesting how you used "again" with it's long and short vowel sounds, and soft rhymes add just the right amount of creative charm; then, though, the final verse really spoke to me, as did every word and line, this beautifully insightful verse is so refreshingly honest, it hit me dead center:
Do I attract the friends I make
by inviting laughs for egos' sake?
Or tugging at their empathy
To bring them closer still to me?
I just love reading your poetry, Marí … thank you ever-so warmly for sharing your, always, amazingly enjoyable penmanship! ⁓ Richard 🍃
Pretty well. Kinda interesting & fascinating read it is. Enjoyed the rhythmic format of your poetry - well encapsulated & written in words. Good to read your work after a long time. Looking forward to reading your stuffs, shortly.
Yes, sometimes the pen rises and conquers the page into submission.
Though this usually happens when you're in company, no pen, and you want to sneak away and write it down.
Aloha Mari, smooth with an easy rhythm. Very nice. Your lines are brilliant they carry a sincerity and truth about them that most writers will relate to. So solid! Many mahalo, Izzy.
Effortless flow and rhyme Mari' on a topic many of us know only too well. "From wrinkled mind to wrinkled page", how I understood that. I enjoyed the read, an accomplished write. Thank you.
This one flows beautifully down the page in flawless rhyme and execution. All writers will be able to relate to this theme. Writer's block is a crippling curse and it can be a very joyous moment when its grip is released and the words and thoughts flow again unhindered. So, kudos for this poem and the rebirth of ink on your page. Long may it continue.
A smooth and elegant flow of words, great meter and sensitivity. Certain phrases shine, ' .. as I enter dawn by candlelight..' or/and ' .. Indulging in the craft I've found - By seeping through my trusty pen - I've found my niche', my love, my friend.' How true, one's never alone if words play kindly with the mind.
