Float and Exist

Float and Exist

A Poem by Gabrielle Lyn
"

Sitting by the ocean during a beautiful day

"
The air feels non-existent
Yet
I can finally
Breathe

My lungs do not burn
And neither does my skin
I am just existing
Unlike the air

It is February
So this is abnormal
Every penguin and polar bear
Drowning
But I like the sun and the breeze

I wish I knew how to float
So I could
Travel down the bay
Under the bridge
With the sun
 On my body
And the day
Slowly passing

The fish can kiss
My feet and
Maybe I'll swim down deep
Until I need oxygen
More than anything

Then I'll swim so quickly
And with my dying energy
I'll break the surface
Breathe
Smile at the air
Then repeat

I enjoyed the imagery at the end, this cycle, the whole ordeal only being one time of many, very poignant.
