Sailboats

Sailboats

A Poem by Gabrielle Lyn

You told me words
that I collected in my pockets
and even tied to my own sentences
just to throw them over the railing
into the bay
to be carried off by sailboats
who were having a good day
until we came along
and burdened them all
with our farewells
and half cried tears
all to say
we tried
but
will never compromise
we left everything we shared
sitting in those two chairs
And maybe they'll stay together
As we move on
with out each other
