Compassionate Counselor

Compassionate Counselor

A Poem by G. K. Bostic

You listen,

     but so much more.
You hear
     without judgement.
You're open,
     you care.

To the weak
     you give strength.
To the frightened
     you give courage.
To the lost
     you give a compass..

You don't give pills
   to mask the pain.
You don't dictate
   the path to take.
You do not judge...
   you counsel.

You are a therapist
   because you care.

Compassion, it really is perception without judgment isn't it...I have a few of these people in my life, and truly they drive me to grip survival's slippery tale...I think the best therapists are the ones who have been there and experienced the pain; Grief conceives empathy through understanding...

Great Write Gloria!
