Coke Zero

Coke Zero

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

write the Coke Zero of prose
because Canada went dry
several hours ago

well it hasn't actually
since cheese puff Pol Pot
signed that executive order
at the outset of his tenure

wait, did a non-player character
have an original thought after all?

f**k it, download the new programming anyway

why does modern poetry look like software code?

why does modern poetry read like gibberish from
the subtle side of Saturn's southern half?

why shouldn't my writing hand meet the
puree setting of a Hamilton Beach blender?

no one knows, says the lead singer of
those stoned queens

but they aren't queens,
more like dudes that make
excellent metal music

there's a rotting deer carcass
on the roadway nearby

thems good eats after a few days
in the direct sunlight

f**k, where's my garlic salt and
OId Bay when I so desperately need it?!

you're likely horrified right now like when
Robocop shot that rapist in the crotch,
deservingly so I might add

if you're not, then maybe this isn't
the Coke Zero of poetry like I hoped for

oh well, keep on writing on as they tell me

more fourth wall breaking bullshit to
come...

Ken, I second roarke's assessment! This is hilarious and cutting. The absence of nourishment is such a fitting metaphor for like in the 21st.

Thanks, brother. Long time no see. I figured you would like this.

Excellent.

So the walmart in ND plays heavy metal muzak??????

I don't know why, whenever my wife and I go to walmart, we separate and it's a couple hours before we find each other... I picture you in a similar scenario and while combing the aisles you are composing this piece... if not... don't worry, I have a weird imagination and any good prose like yours is bound to set it off. Nice stuff.
