That Guy

I wrote this for my creative writing class. The prompt said we had to use imagery and the line "The only thing I know is this".

His hair holds fast its perfect position,

slightly messy,

but purposefully so.

His newspaper folded crisply,

open to an article on foreign policy,

which he reads in French.

His bright eyes have stopped

many a woman in her tracks,

on one occasion giving an elderly woman a heart attack.

Luckily, he is proficient in CPR.

He carries a worn paperback copy of The Bell Jar

and can pull off man jewelry in way previously

thought impossible.

He knows good wine better than the average American knows water.

His teeth are straight and white.

And he grew his first mustache at the age of 12.

I do not know

his name

his age

his profession.

The only thing I know is this:

I f*****g hate that guy.

It was good work, carried interest and heart. A little 'ponderous' descriptively but THAT is what really sets the stage for your "bite". Could I see it coming? Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell - I should have but without knowing your sense of the ridiculous - I didn't. And yes, I'm still chuckling.
