The look

The look

A Poem by Nirmala
"

The mixed messages of love and attraction can entirely take away one's confidence in both men and women. This is one such experience...

"

                   The look

Compelled to turn

By your steady stare

A look of mystery

Baffling and not very fair

Perplexed I faltered

Embarrassed and shy

That I’d been noticed

I wondered why

Gliding away

Avoiding the power

Of those amazing eyes

I moved really far

To breathe more freely

To think more clearly

To calm my heart beat

To bring back sanity

I checked my reflection

On the glass on the door

Was something amiss?

Was something in store?

You were a stranger

That entered my space

Handsome and confident

To stare without grace

A look so intent

Was it aversion?

Was I familiar?

Or was it attraction

Later you told me

You were entirely enthralled

From the first time you saw me

As I entered the hall

Love and attraction

Confuse things it might

Even if garbled

The heart sets it right

this is a great poem. the confusion it describes is very real, and the doubts you wrote about definitely destroy ones confidence.
