kiss

kiss

A Poem by Lydia Waldock

I haven't got much on my heart
Nor do I have much on my mind
Other than the time we first kissed
A kiss of not love
But a kiss that stirred something in me

It shocked me when you looked at me and leaned over
Because at that time I was trying to tell you a joke
Which you laughed at and we kissed

That kiss stirred something in me
I know it was not of love
It was for lust
But

I still think of that kiss
I know you most likely don't
Maybe you regret it
But when I think of it

It stirs hope that I am lovable by either you
or
To myself

I guess the old adage that you should love yourself before you can truly love anyone else is true. In this you also express the easy rise of that inate animal lust who we should not be affraid of or reject or supress. So long as we do it without hurting others or ourselves. I like the honesty of this piece as it flows in freeverse style.

Thank you so much!!
I like it. It's both sweet and innocent, but I have felt like you now describe.

The sudden rush of lust, and the aftermath of thoughs.

Thank you!
i think a kiss might be the most intimate expression of caring and love. I like the honesty of this...the realness...and especially like that very last line...something everyone needs, to be lovable to self.

This poem is written easy enough to understand, while at the same time conveying deeper feelings of love, wondering, and change. Good work.
