Inspired by the cracks of lightning.

Caught between the flashes, sparks of light

keeping me hidden and tucked away

Drowning the rhythm of the words flowing out my chest

Escaping near death with each drop of

and in the beat here we seem to be

You and me, you and I 

is it safe to put two into one?

Or should I keep us one on one

Who's the lead and where will it follow

is it through, is it enough

Can't seem to shake this high in my head

breaths lost as we lose ourselves in what is then in our now

you're more than a chemical, beyond a touch.

What's hidden under the challenge in your stare?

Shifting silences into sudden stares knowing it's something rare

Push aside, wait a moment, say goodnight don't say goodbye

Love how the fear turns to thoughts of oneness. I love the line "we lose ourselves in what is then in our now", it could be about the power and force behind the majestic site of lightning, or it could be the thoughts of another, stirred while watching the fury unleash, wishing they were their with you. It reads really well as both, the person or the power. I doubt that is coincidental, coming from that fine pen of yours, but you capture the charged emotions so well. Superb Gloria.

Thank you Lorry :) I appreciate the kind words and you're very close to what's behind the poem. The cracks and roar of the thunder was electrifying and challenging as well, do I want them or is it me attempting to bring a "then into now"? I enjoy writing in storms, I think the energy in the air adds to whatever current energy we have present in ourselves. I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
