A Poem by Demure Penumbra
"

Another school assignment.

"
We are the dust scattered in the wind
Watch us fall
Catch our scattered ashes in a jar
Keep our remains
Think of what we used to be
So tall and strong and free
Remember us at our best
Learn from us at our worst
We built our chains link by link
We tried to burn our faults
But they remain
We are left -- The dust of the earth --
Waiting for someone to breathe life into us
Again

Ah, how we are like dust in the wind, drifting around so freely and uncontrollably, that others can only watch and see what becomes of us. Good poem, and much enjoyed.
