Banana Bread the Poem

Banana Bread the Poem

A Poem by Gracynn

Tap on the edge of the counter
Fingers pull apart along the cracked shell
White/yellow contents ooze after
Into the glass bowl, its new home
One cup of crystal-like powder
Makes the substance thick, tough to stir
It jumps out of the bowl, causing laughter
When it lands on my dark t-shirt
Fingers peel the overly ripe, long fruit
The sweet scent fills the compact room
And more white powder follows suit
With half of a yellow, slippery stick
Pour into a small, metal pan
Set to bake for fifty minutes
Take out when just so slightly tan
To enjoy with my family

Could you imagine if all cookery books were done in poetry form? How wonderful that would be. And so much more entertaining to read. Enjoyed this charming, ditty of an ingredient tale to be told and ate afterwards when cooked.
