Fool's Gold

Fool's Gold

A Poem by gram linski

                           Mythos

laughed at the inadequacies of man

you poor deluded misguided distracted
rainbow chasing fools

there is no gold
               no-thing but refracted
                                       sunlight

go reach for your gold
underneath the wheels
of the chariots of
                       Sun Ra

                  hahaha

Never fallen for that malarkey of gold at the end of a rainbow. That's for dreamers as well as fools. Rainbow's are very pretty to look at. Remember that TV programme called Rainbow with Geoffrey, George and Zippy. Now that was for kids but no doubt many an adult fool enjoyed it too. Good colourful visuals here, an intelligent and enjoyable poem gram. Keep safe in the storms.

I'll go rattle her knocker then :)
Well, Mythos. Not very kind to try and have me run over by a chariot after all I’ve done to advance your cause. But, that’s fine, I understand. Maybe you just want to sleep on a deserted beach somewhere for a hundred years or so and not have to keep reinventing yourself. Ok. I get it.

I always think it’s fun when you include things like laughter in your poems, Gram. The personality of the poet merges with the poem and there’s the poetic landscape. Aglint with the wonder of refracted sunlight. Which is much better than the elusive gold of leprechauns. The leprechaun will just slap your hand and run away with the gold, anyways, if you manage to find it. So, why not get lost in the simple joys, the everydayness of the sun touch on water. Or the other various ways it can be beautiful.

Cool poem, Gram. There’s a philosophy in there waiting to be unraveled.

Man is such a shallow creature. We crave and cling to material things, as if they gift life itself. As you’re expressed so cleverly here, we’re the fools! I think all the dead and other living things must laugh at us.

aye you got that right, R.E. we are the laughing stock of humanity, lol,
I'm sure there's gold at the end of the rainbow, my ex and her lawyer told me so.

haha, you poor misguided fool,
when we finally find that rainbow and it turns out to be nothing more than a black and white silent film...
to which we must apply our own dialogue...it is never easy...and what dreams come that way are fool's gold.
excellent, deep write,
j.
