INNER-SELF...

INNER-SELF...

A Poem by Alexandra G.

The mind is powerful,
We make good and bad decisions.
Stupid actions; others correct,
But they never cease to be fearful.

The mind is powerful,
It catches you and takes you to another world.
Far ... without knowing if we are here or there,
It is depressing.

The mind is powerful,
It forces us to say what we never want.
To think unusually ... it catches you,
Without letting you know why.

The mind is powerful,
Sometimes it hides us from our truths and lies.
But ... why believe everything without first seeking the answer?
And there we are; lost.

The mind is powerful,
We learn to hate and to love who we least expect.
Many tears ... pain, joy or peace,
A bit of everything to become more crazy.

The mind is powerful,
Play nonstop until eating from the inside out.
So powerful and so fearful,
We can revert to everything good and start from scratch.

The mind is powerful,
Without many taboos ... or anything bad.
Only teachings and experiences of life,
That when we least expect it; we become our best versions.

this would be a really good companion piece to Richard Wilbur's "Mind"
if we let it have its freedom, the mind can do wonders for others and others...we just need to not rein it in so often...just let it play...when we overthink or try to control...we have expectations...and then the mind might deceive or let us down.
quite a good piece here, with the repetition of line working quite well indeed.

Here's a fun one for you... Imagine if your mind is a bit cracked and your recall isn't the best but you have this core raw you... it comes from just being ego is next to eradicated due to your minimal processing! instinct and intuitiveness are your perspective what then is your comprise and imagine this is not temporary but always. The define of self is a bit different it is that, that we see and choose to see and partake of that becomes who we are and the wretched becomes but a whisper when surrounded by the now. Like your train of thought here you made me write a long response that is a sign I like your thoughts:)

Hey, Alexandra

I really love your poem - in particular, the way you play with the idea that we are in control, but sometimes very much not in control, of our thoughts and impulses. Great images, and ideas.

I notice that you use "fearful" in your message in a few different ways. This makes me think about how fear is the thing we most have to fear. Fear can stop us from living, yet the mind has the power to overcome fear, so we can live more fully. Your way of describing life is fresh & original-sounding . . . you use phrases that are vague, so they bring many possibilities to the reader's mind (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Yes!!! Quite indeed Barleygirl, thanks so much for your kind and thoughtful review! Blessings
The mind is vast and can absorb so much. I think we create boundaries for it early on in life and that limits what we can do. Good write. The repetition was effective. Lydi*

Who cares about grammar or dialogue or punctuation or whatever...
I certainly never do, words do not need dressings-up to be fancy...
What the mind CAN do, and what you WILL do with your knowledge of that limit...
A fine line...
Practice in self-esteem is key
Strongly worded, and powerful message

You are welcome Alexandra.
Well written poetry here. The mind is incredibly powerful. It can be both friend and foe to us. We need to get that balance right.

The last verse indicates some awareness, but the speaker seems to feel at the mercy of the powerful mind. Indeed, it is powerful, but it has different levels. As we learn to dwell in the higher ones, the power of the lower is diminished.
