Kindle Flame

Kindle Flame

A Poem by Minki
"

So much emotion over the one I love, when love is forbidden. . . .

"

Broken lovers kindle flame,

Guilt and darkness shoulder blame

For heavy hearts and restless souls,

Dying embers, glowing coals.

Lack acceptance, breed dismay,

Let alone and stay away

From broken lovers' hearts so torn,

Love deserted, lost, forsworn.

Glinting eyes and clawing hands,

In Eve's dreams she understands

The need for moral sacrifice,

Rejects reason, turns to vice.

Stifled protest impacts none,

No acceptance ever won

For broken lovers kindling flame,

Let them bow their heads in shame.

This actually goes along with a bit of what's been happening in my life right now. Usually when I write poems, the first line just gets stuck in my head until I finally decide to write it all out. The first words of this poem comes from the song "Worry About You" by 2am Club. (No, I had absolutely no idea that the song was on Gossip Girls or whatever.) Here are a few lyrics:

Broken lover, yes I made you
Believe that I would be the one to heal you.
And if you go now, out that doorway,
I won't say you're wrong, but you know that I worry about you.
