The Trains

The Trains

A Poem by Samuel Ferris

The crackling hum of a transformer near by
seem's to hiss from all angles.
A train rattles
in the distance;

the ominous engine beating, lurching
forward, metal against metal,
screaming
like banchees and old horror flicks.

The giganticness of it overtakes the electrified hum,
and as soon as it was it wasnt,
the engine beating on down the tracks.
The silence creeps back.

into existance until all
that remains
is
the hum,

and the occasional
chirpings
of crickets.

Samuel Ferris
Free style record of sitting at night in a train yard near my school in good old Tiffin, Ohio. I needed a breath of fresh air and some time to think. This is probably my most existential poem. lol.
