The Evening of Birds

The Evening of Birds

A Poem by Samuel Ferris

On the Evening of Birds

i pass my body my flesh

to you. (In sheaves)

The bark of me,

the ripe fruits of my labor.

Tight, almost haiku or cinquain-like, but nicely evocative; no fluff, no wasted motion, just each word pulling its weight. Very nice little piece.
