The Great Divide (Updated)A Poem by Haley Lynn ThomasI felt it most when you were close
My arms are open Outstretched and reaching for you Inviting you inside of them Ready to embrace you again
My heart is open Yearning to beat alongside yours Close enough to fill the great divide But far enough apart to take it back again
But I’m hesitant to give myself back I’m as vulnerable as I’ve ever been But you won’t let me in
Your arms are closed And your heart is, too You took yourself away from me And you widened the great divide © 2015 Haley Lynn Thomas |
